My name is Sophie Kehrig and I’m just happy to be here. I classify my academic exploits as being “in their process” because I quite honestly have no idea what I’m doing. My goal at the present moment is to learn as much as I possibly can, and maybe someday become employable. I live for well thought discourse, and I love political science, so we’ll see where that takes me.
I’m a workshop facilitator in the Prison Creative Arts Project, which brings programming to prisons all over Michigan. This experience has turned me into a full blown abolitionist, for something instead in favor of reformative and restorative justice. I plan to continue involvement in, and in the future advocacy for PCAP beyond my college career.
I’m currently employed by the U of M Educational Theater Company, my castmates and I work to help educate other students in intervention and social sensitivity.
In my free time you’ll find me at the UMMA, entranced by an exhibit I’ve already visited four times.
Likes: Food culture and thrift shopping, elaborate thesauruses, crying at dramatic television, embroidery, musicals, precise language, flamboyance, and baking pastries with pretentious names
Dislikes: Inflexibility, lack of seasoning, low-rise pants, white sandwich bread, sweeping generalizations, and the expectation of homogeneity
