About Sarra Lev
Sarra Lev teaches Talmud and Midrash at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Philadelphia. Before coming to rabbinical school she walked across the United States on the Great Peace March and lived in the Women's Encampment for a Future of Peace and Justice. Since then she has engaged in activism of various sorts including advocating a just peace between Palestinians and Israeli Jews and immigration reform. She is currently writing a monograph on intersexuality in rabbinic literature. She believes that the role of the rabbi is, above all, to engage in social justice as a function of living a life connected to the divine, and teaches rabbinic texts with great love and deep critique towards that end.
